Find a Teacher
If you want to get started, your first action should be to look for a good arts school or arts course where you can check on the teachers, their accomplishments and on others’ general opinions on the said teacher. This is essential as not everyone teaches in the same way. While some teacher can be inspirational with their critics the others may only hurt your feelings and would tempt you to give it up altogether.
Even though you enroll in an arts course, if you don’t like the teacher, feel free to switch courses as and when. You need someone who can help you in building your talent and not someone who wants to hold you back. Remember, although you need some talent for drawing, it’s not something that can be measured and it’s not something that’s compulsory. Creating for the sake of creating, or drawing simply because you enjoy it as a hobby should be totally acceptable. Remember it’s not a competition and you need a teacher who really motivates you to improve and to further explore in order to create your own style.
